The old driveway was too narrow for the way the family actually used it and it had cracked along its length. Backing out meant putting a wheel on the grass every single time.
What we did
We broke the old slab out with the skid steer, loaded and hauled it, then cut and compacted a new wider base. Reinforcing mesh went down over the whole area and was tied off before the trucks were called in.
The finish
A washed exposed aggregate finish. The paste is washed off the surface at exactly the right moment to expose the stone underneath, which gives a hard wearing, grippy surface with far more character than a plain grey slab.
