Who you are calling

One trade, done properly

KRS Concrete is Kevin Rodríguez and his crew. Concrete is not one of several things we do, it is the only thing we do, and we have been doing it for more than ten years across Memphis, North Mississippi and Eastern Arkansas.

That means the forms go in square, the steel goes in before the concrete does, and the grade is set so water leaves your slab instead of sitting on it. Every job starts with a free estimate and finishes with the site cleaned up.

Why KRS

The parts of the job you never see

Anybody can pour grey mud into a hole. What decides whether your slab is still flat in ten years happens before the truck arrives.

01

Ten years of concrete, not ten trades

Kevin Rodríguez has been doing concrete for over ten years. Concrete is the only thing KRS Concrete does, which is why the forms are square and the finish is right.

02

Steel in every pour

Rebar and wire mesh, tied and chaired, on driveways and walkways alike. It is the part of the job you never see and the part that decides how long the slab lasts.

03

We fix the water, not just the concrete

Half the slabs we replace failed because water was sitting on them or under them. We set the grade before we set the forms.

04

Repairs done in a day

Where a section repair is the right answer we tear out, prep, pour and clean up in a single day rather than leaving your driveway open for a week.

05

Free estimates, in person

We come out, measure and look at the site before we give you a number. No charge, no obligation and no price pulled out of the air over the phone.

06

English and Spanish

Kevin is bilingual and so is the way we run a job. Hablamos español, y trabajamos en los dos idiomas de principio a fin.

How we work

Five steps, no surprises

Every pour follows the same order. That is why the slabs come out flat and the water runs where it should.

01

Call or text

Tell us what you need and send a photo if you have one. We answer the phone ourselves.

02

Free estimate

We come out, measure, look at where the water goes and give you a price. Estimates are always free.

03

Tear out and prep

Old concrete is broken out and hauled away. The base is graded and compacted, and the forms go in square.

04

Steel and pour

Rebar and wire mesh are tied in, then the concrete is placed, screeded and floated.

05

Finish and joints

Broom or washed finish, control joints cut, site cleaned up. We tell you exactly when you can walk and drive on it.

Step 05: cutting the control joints into the cured slab.

Before / after

A side yard that held water, poured back in a day

The strip between the house and the fence had broken up and was holding water against the foundation. We cut it out and re-poured it to grade.

Finishes

Two finishes, chosen for the job

We do not sell you a finish you do not need. Broom is right for most driveways. Washed aggregate earns its money around water and at a front entry.

Broom being drawn across wet concrete to create a non slip finish

Broom finish

The workhorse finish, and the one most Memphis driveways and walkways get.

  • A stiff broom is drawn across the surface while it is still setting.
  • Leaves a fine ridged texture that gives grip when the concrete is wet.
  • Hard wearing, easy to clean, and the most cost effective finish we offer.
  • Best for driveways, walkways, patios, steps and side yards.
Worker washing the cement paste off to expose the aggregate finish

Washed exposed aggregate

The decorative finish, where the stone in the mix becomes the surface.

  • The cement paste is washed off at exactly the right moment to expose the stone.
  • Gives a textured, grippy, cooler surface with far more character than grey slab.
  • Hides marks and traffic better than a smooth finish.
  • Best for pool decks, feature driveways and front entries.

Something we did yesterday. The client called us to tell us that his patio was stagnant with water and that he needed something firm to walk on, so KRS Concrete went and solved the problem with a good concrete work with a nice broom finish and reinforced with rebar. The client is very happy with the work.

Today we went and repaired some sections of a driveway where a lot of water was stuck, but KRS Concrete repaired it in just one day. The customer was very happy and grateful with the results.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you charge for estimates?

No. Estimates are free, every time, with no obligation. Call or text (469) 334-7552 and we will come out and price the job.

What does a concrete driveway cost in Memphis?

It depends on the square footage, the thickness, whether there is an old slab to tear out and haul away, how difficult the access is and which finish you choose. That is why we look at it in person rather than quoting a number over the phone. The estimate is free either way.

Do you reinforce your concrete?

Yes. Rebar and wire mesh go into our pours as standard, tied and chaired off the ground so the steel sits inside the slab where it does its job. Reinforcement is the difference between concrete that cracks and stays put and concrete that cracks and separates.

Can you repair just part of my driveway?

Yes, and usually that is what we recommend. We break out only the failed sections, re-prep the base underneath, tie in steel and pour them back. Most single section repairs are finished in one day.

How long before I can walk and drive on new concrete?

As a general rule foot traffic is fine after about twenty four to forty eight hours and vehicles after about seven days, but it depends on the mix, the thickness and the weather on the day. We will give you the exact timings before we leave the site.

What finishes do you offer?

Broom finish and washed exposed aggregate finish. Broom is the hard wearing everyday finish for driveways and walkways. Washed aggregate exposes the stone in the mix for a decorative, grippy surface that works particularly well around pools.
